When to come
Two monsoons, so there is always somewhere in season
Sri Lanka never closes. It simply moves. Here is roughly where to be, and when.

Dec to Mar
South & West
Dry, bright and reliable along the southern beaches. Peak season for whale watching out of Mirissa.

Apr to Jun
Hill Country
Cool estate mornings and clear rail views before the south-west monsoon settles in. Quietest month for Sigiriya.

Jul to Sep
East & Wildlife
Trincomalee and Arugam Bay come into their own, and the Minneriya elephant gathering is at its largest.

Oct to Nov
Shoulder
Short inter-monsoon showers, empty sites and the best rates of the year. Our own favourite time to travel.

Before you fly
The boring things, handled.
- ArrivalsColombo (CMB) is the single international gateway. We meet every flight in person, including the 3am ones.
- VisasMost nationalities travel on an ETA applied for online. We send the current link and check the approval before departure.
- Getting aroundPrivate vehicle and chauffeur-guide throughout, with rail legs reserved separately where the ride is worth taking.
- HealthNo mandatory vaccinations for most arrivals. We flag anything relevant to your specific route before it is confirmed.
